It's Friday, I'm in love....

...with this Texas weather!

SHOPPING CORNER

I wanted to kick up my heels today (Steve Madden).  And a pencil skirt (White House Black Market) with a graphic t (Target).  My clutch looks like a folded gossip magazine.

THE WEATHER REPORT

There was a little light in the bleakness that is the middle of winter.  Sunshine makes me wax poetic.

JEWELRY DARLING

I was all glammy today.  I felt like shimmering (shining's sweeter sister).  This pewter statement necklace was perfect for my mood.  Simple white gold hoops played the perfect companion, while a hot cuff in charcoal stones looked on.

Don't get too comfy Sparky.

THE MAKE-UP COUNTER

Benefit's Holy Smokes was my lid.  I added a glittery slate to my crease.  Le Frou Frou for lashes.

THROWING SHADE

Phat. Black. Gucci. Shades. Period.

Much ado about nothing...

Or, I have nothing much to do.

I'm going to get soooo much procrastinating done today.   There is nothing on my to do list.  Well, maybe there is but I don't want to do any of it.  There is nothing glamorous about sweeping the dead grass that Sparky (my son's dog, a cocker spaniel/springer spaniel and general asshole) tracks into the house.  I have laundry and dishes to do.  Where is my fairy godmother when I need her?

SHOPPING CORNER

When I find something I like and that fits me well I buy it in every color.  My silk zip up tunics from Target are a perfect example.  A tunic is a very versatile piece to have in your wardrobe.  You can belt them or wear them straight and they always look good. They are flattering on every body type and they don't go out of style.

It doesn't matter what you wear on bottom whether it be leggings or jeans or even tucked in a nice pair of trousers.  If you're getting dressed for a business meeting, a day of work, or going grocery shopping for the family a tunic is always a great go to piece.

Today I wore one in a dusty purple.  I have been known to sleep in my clothes, especially these super long silky numbers.  I love the sexy feeling that silk evokes.

My favorite thing to wear for comfort are leggings.  You can dress them up or down.  Today I chose a cheetah print in cream, dark and light brown.  I paired the neutral leggings with the purple tunic and added a long knit sweater in brown.  I was shopping with my best friend Mer (shout out) in Lubbock, Texas.  We were at TJMAXX and she said "Girl you have to have that sweater."  This morning my daughter tried to take it off my back.

On my feet were shearling and suede platform lace up hiking boots by Jessica Simpson.  I know, who goes hiking in platform boots?  Apparently miss Simpson and me...

WEATHER REPORT

Rather than complain every day about the cold I'm going to post a pic of my local weather.

JEWELRY DARLING

I'm trying to wear more color.  Today I chose purple.  Go figure, but it works!  My jewelry was purple and gold.  Necklace, bracelet and earrings by Arden B.

MAKE-UP COUNTER

Purple eyes today by Chanel.

THROWING SHADE

I have been patiently waiting for a reason to wear my new sunnies.  Lavender to black ombré with gold accents by Chanel.

What are you wearing?

Day 5 of 100

100 outfits, 100 different days...

Day 5.  What is on tap today?  A little grocery shopping and a business meeting.  I'm a stay at home mom of 2.  My son is 10 and my daughter is about to be 15. (I cringe a little to think of it.)  I spend my days running errands and doing whatever I can to enrich the lives of those around me.

As an interior designer I enjoy transforming spaces.  It's super awesome to know that my work is my client's reward.

I love interior design so why the blog? It was my daughter's idea.  She said "Mom, you dress great every day.  You should do something with that."  So I said "100 outfits in 100 days?"  It has a nice ring to it, and with my passion for fashion it just fit.

SHOPPING CORNER

Sparkles and military green were on tap today.  Before you think I'm crazy for pairing sparkles and military green, I know that they go together for a fact...  My sister was a marine and she pretty much only wears things that sparkle and shine!  Love ya Candace!

I am a fan of layering pieces and today I layered 3.  I started with a black sequined tank under a black silk button up tunic. A black leather motorcycle vest completed the look.  I topped them all off with a military green zip up motorcycle jacket with leather lapel and accents. (Marc New York)

I could have worn rolled up boyfriend jeans but thought that would be too predictable.
So to balance that hard edged look I chose a black legging in a sweet damask patterned.  My black Jessica's fit the bill.

When my daughter saw me today she said "Mom you look sooo cute.  I like your pants.  They make your butt look good."  Quite the compliment!  I guess today I succeeded in getting noticed.

THE WEATHER REPORT

IT'S STILL WINTER.  I'm still freezing.  It's still not fair.  This is Texas.

JEWELRY DARLING

I kept it easy today, with a chunky silver chain and dangle earrings.  A silver mega cuff bracelet (TJMAXX) finished me off.

MAKE-UP COUNTER

My Mom says that my make-up counter looks like a Chanel Cosmetic Store threw up on it.  I collect them like two dollar bills.  I have a few.  I wanted a darker look today and Chanel's Winter Nights came to the rescue.  Oh the irony.

I'm a size XL...and I'm a fashion brat.

I am a size XL.  My body has curves.  This has been a blessing and a curse.  It can be hard at times to find the right fit for my body type.  I do, however, carry on shopping for great pieces that don't make my boobs look too big or my butt too round.  In the name of fashion I am forced to succeed.  I refuse to play into societies stereotype that a girl of size can't look fabulous.

I strive for perfection in all that I do.  Except housework.  And laundry.  But nobody is perfect right?

SHOPPING CORNER

I was forced yet again to dress for the weather.  I long for spring when wearing a coat is optional.  I never gripe about the Texas heat because I don't want to be a hypocrite.  But I do whine and complain about the cold and freezing wind.  I'm such a brat.

Needing to bundle up for the day I wore layers.  I have these great white leggings with a leather strip down the sides of the legs.  With those pants I wore a cute white tunic with a black and grey splatter pattern (Calvin Klein from Ross).  One of my favorite vests is super soft and furry with a huge butterfly collar.  My daughter says I don't wear enough color so when I saw this coat at BeBe I knew I had to have it.  But it was BeBe.  That store doesn't cater to girls who are XL.  But I decided to check anyway.  Imagine my surprise when they had it in my size!!!  So I rocked my BeBe coat today.  It is cranberry with huge gold snaps.  I love to wear it with my big floppy hat.

I love scarves.  I wear one just about every day.  Today I wore a silk LV number in black, grey, copper and white.  You can see it peeking out of my coat.

THE WEATHER REPORT

It was cold.  Again.

JEWELRY DARLING

The buttons on my tunic and coat are bright gold.  I layered three long gold necklaces and wore black and gold dangle earrings.  I have this great ring (in several colors) in gold with grey stones.  My hat has a gold chain detail.

MAKE-UP COUNTER

I have said before that I love a smokey eye.  It's my favorite way to do my eyes.  Although most of my make-up comes from high end counters, I do frequent drug stores and sometimes find the right color for my mood.  Today I started with Benefit's Bikini-Tini as my base and highlighter.  Loreal makes a beautiful dark pearlescent purple called Deep Ocean which I fade out from lid to crease and above.  Just above my top lashes I added a black liquid liner and smudged it out slightly onto my lid.  Voila!  A beautiful and tasteful smokey eye.

CELEBRITY SIGHTING

I had a meeting this morning with my business partner and one of my dearest friends, Kelly.  Our meeting took place at Starbucks.  Go figure.  But when a caramel macchiato is calling me, I must heed that call.  I've already warned you that I am a brat.  I am a really cranky brat if I haven't had my caffeine first thing in the morning.

Channeling My Inner Sherpa...

I had the pleasure of meeting a friend for breakfast this morning.  It's always so great to chat and chat and chat and lose track of time, isn't it?

My favorite accessory besides my Chanel bag is my Starbucks cup.  My daughter got me an endless thermal cup for Christmas and I can drink all the espresso drinks I want in the month of January for free.  I don't know what I'm going to do now that January is almost finished!

SHOPPING CORNER

I channeled my inner Sherpa today.  I needed some fur to help keep me warm. I found an oversized fur vest at Target in Tallahassee Florida over the Christmas holidays.  It was perfect for the ensemble I had planned.  Brown leggings and a silk zip up champagne colored tunic completed my look.  Needing some color on such a dreary day led me to a red trenchcoat from Target.  It is so cute and I love it's flashy lining.  I wore a wool scarf with mink ball trim.  An animal print clutch added some pop (TJMAXX)

On my feet were the sister pair of my black over the calf Jessica Simpson stack boots in calf skin.  Have I mentioned how much I love Jessica Simpson and her style and her shoes and her clothes?

THE WEATHER REPORT

After such a nice day yesterday I am sorry that nasty winter is rearing it's ugly head in Texas again.  I love living here because of the great weather. But hello freezing temps and howling wind for another bone chilling day.

JEWELRY DARLING

I needed a pop of color so I chose a red and gold statement necklace from Sam Moon.  On my right wrist I stacked some gold twisted rope bangles and on my left I had a gold bangle in the shape of a bow and a red enamel bracelet with rhinestone detail.

MAKE-UP COUNTER

I am a huge fan of a smoky eye.  I usually do the same technique but change my colors every day.  I love to keep my make up fresh with current colors.  I'm not afraid to use green or brown or purple or blue on my eyes.  But today I kept it neutral with Chanel Golden Eyes.  I love Bikini-Tini by Benefit as my base.  It matches my skin tone perfectly.

THROWING SHADE

I love sunshades.  I have quite a few pair. Today I wore my LV silver tortoise shell sunnies.

CELEBRITY SIGHTING

In my life there are many celebrities that I encounter on a daily basis.  These people are celebrities to me because I love them all.  They are not famous people but they are infamous in my daily life.  David Katzenberger is one of those special people.  He is the manager of the Starbucks that I frequent every single day...at Target.

Sunday Blues

No sleep has rendered me inspiration less.  My sleepy haze has me tuckered.  It's going to be a ponytail day.  I stayed up til 6 this morning in and out of a sleepy coma only to wake up at noon, a whole day wasted.

SHOPPING CORNER

Needing to get ready quick, I threw on an easy striped maxi dress with capped sleeves in grey, white and black.  Not sure about the weather I wore a black long sleeve cardi.

I bought this dress for our trip to London and Paris this summer.  I wanted something that could be dressed up or down and travel well.

A maxi dress is so versatile.  By itself or paired with a denim jacket or cardi, you can use this dress for just about any occasion.  I like to wear stack wedges because I need the extra height as maxi dresses are super long.  If you don't mind your dress to drag the ground a cute sandal would be fine.

I broke my black leather stacked zip up gladiator sandals by Jessica Simpson out of summer storage for the day.  I love these shoes!!!  They go with jeans, shorts, skirts - you name it.

WEATHER REPORT

Today was sunny and 60's.  The wind was really blowing.  I was glad I wore my cardi.

THE MAKE-UP COUNTER

All shades of purple were my fancy for the day.  I think purple makes my blue eyes look bluer.  For my base I chose Benefit's Bikini-Tini, on my lids and crease I used Vanites by Chanel and my liner was Macrovelvet Fluidline by MAC.

JEWELRY DARLING

Silver was my metal for the day, since I was wearing grey and white.  I love to stack my jewelry.  I cannot say this enough.  One is good, two is better!  My personal philosophy is that anything worth doing is worth over-doing.

I stacked two silver chains with different color grey stones around my neck.  I didn't wear bracelet's today, or a statement ring.  I did wear silver dangle earrings that coordinated with my necklaces.

A Simple Saturday...Or I'm a fashion junkie.

Everyone who knows me knows how much I love Target.  Just because I have expensive taste doesn't mean that all my clothes are.  I can pull together a look on a shoestring budget.  Which I do, at Target...

I also shop at Ross and TJMaxx with the best of them.  So I may be wearing my boyfriend jeans (from Target) with my Chanel scarf and bag.  I invest in higher end classic pieces with staying power, like my Chanel carry on cross body travel tote ( 1 of 4 ever made) and leave the trendy looks to the lesser expensive avenues like your Ross stores etc.

I love clothes.  I love fashion.  I love getting dressed every day.  My overpacked closet is about to burst at the seams.  But that doesn't stop me!  I have more shoes than I can count, more scarves (my other secret passion, but don't tell my shoes) than I know what to do with, and jewelry coming out of my ears.  I am a fashion hoarder.  This is my confession.

SHOPPING CORNER

Today is Saturday.  A day for relaxing and being lazy.  I chose rolled up boyfriend jeans (Target) as my key piece today.  I wanted to be comfortable while shopping for a client.  Up top I chose a cream colored tank with gold embellishments from shoulder to underarm (Ross).  On top of my sheer tank I wore a cream and black diagonal print cardi with dolman sleeves (Ross).  My shoes (inserts deep sigh) were a scandalous pair of Steve Madden Spycee black sparkly stacked gladiator pumps.  I have them in nude as well.  The HOTTEST pair of shoes.  They stop traffic.  I feel like a million bucks when I wear them...

THE WEATHER REPORT

The weather was beautiful today here in north Texas.  65 degrees and sunny.  My Daddy says that you have to be a fool or a foreigner to predict Texas weather.  He's right.  It changes so fast.  Either way it was a great day to wear those shoes.

JEWELRY DARLING

I opted for a gold theme to complete my ensemble.  I paired a long multi chained amber accented necklace with another chunky gold piece.  A leather cuff in cream and brass and a gold dome ring finished me off.

THE MAKE-UP COUNTER

NARS Mekong was my choice for my eyes today and a nude glosser from Yves St. Laurent carried me through my day.

High Heel Holly Tells All...about her wardrobe!

People stop me all the time to comment on my shoes.  "How do you walk in those things?", people will ask, but I walk better in them than out of them.  Hence my nickname, High Heel Holly.

I am a lover of fashion.  Shoes to be exact.  I am forced to be fashionable because my shoes demand it.

I am a stay at home mom, but that doesn't mean I can't be fashionable or fabulous!  I am an interior designer and my love of mixing and matching fabrics carries over to my fashion sense.  I'm not afraid of being a trend setter.  I wear heels to my son's baseball practice and games.  I even have a pair of silver sequined stack espadrille wedges that my son thinks are good luck!

So to that end, I start my foray into the fashion world with this blog.  100 different days, 100 different outfits. Although I may change my clothes more than once per day.  (Call me crazy, you won't be the first.)

I won't repeat, but I will re-wear certain key wardrobe pieces in this 100 days.

SHOPPING CORNER

Today I wore leather leggings, a silk cobalt blue zip up tunic, a leather trimmed vest, all by Massimo for Target and a black jacquard hat.  I killed it with my above the calf Jessica Simpson black leather stack boots.  I have them in calf skin as well.  What?  Those were the only two colors she made in that boot.

THE WEATHER REPORT

The weather was blustery today.  High of 34 and super windy here in Frisco.  Which is why I broke out my fur.  Dennis Basso.  The last time I wore it I was in NYC.  I found my metro card in the pocket.  How very Carrie Bradshaw of me.

JEWELRY DARLING

Earrings by Arden B.  Necklace by Brighton, a Christmas gift from my darling SIL Candace.  It's a crystalled Eiffel Tower.  On my right wrist I stacked bangles in silver and gunmetal with rhinestones.  On my left I wore My Flat In London Heiress Charm Bracelet by Brighton.  The charms are a key, chandelier, suitcase that opens to reveal a pair of heels and pearls, a crown and tassel, a champagne bottle and a teapot that reads "ring for tea" on the bottom.  It was a gift for my 41st birthday from my family.

THE MAKE-UP COUNTER

At the make-up counter today I wore NARS Night Flight on my eyes and Color Whisper Oh LaLilac number 90 with Napolean Perdis Hawaii gloss over the top on my lips.

CELEBRITY SIGHTING

Occasionally I run into celebrities.  Today I was lucky enough to see fellow blogger, Author of Nice in Nice,
now available via Amazon,
http://tinyurl.com/lsfvjom and friend, Ella Dyer of Atlanta Georgia. Ella was in town for a birthday surprise and we got to hang out for a bit at brunch.  She even took my pic at Sarah Jo and Blake's house today after encouraging me to start this blog.  Cheers!
